BATTERY RESEARCH
[SCI-TECH/GOV: Jülich, August 12]
In the framework of the German federal government’s economic policy, EUR 11m is to be granted to the Competence Association (North). In this association, the universities of Münster, Hanover and Bochum, together with the RWTH Aachen and the Düsseldorf Max-Planck Institute for Iron Research as well as the Jülich Research Center, are pooling their battery research. The objective of the cooperation is to establish a basis for the development of new batteries, as this will be at the heart of the development of new hybrid/electric automobiles. There will be a meeting about this on August 19 at the campus in Jülich.
