TEL AVIV SILICON VALLEY
[LOG: Liège, March 20] An introduction to the new service was given by Benoît Wesley, a leading South-Limburg business man and spokesman for the Jewish community. He pointed to the many attractions of Tel Aviv and a special brochure is available with details of the destination, listing hotel offers and presenting some very attractive illustrations. Coincidentally, the same week’s edition of The Economist pointed out that Tel Aviv is rapidly becoming Israel’s Silicon Valley. Further matters covered at the press conference, included the TGV cargo developments in Eurocarex, which we have covered extensively in other issues (Issue 172) and finally there was a note relating to the developments of private air travel, where Liège has Signature Flight support, which handles private and business aircraft, providing passengers with their own lounges and baggage handling on a 24/7 basis, limousines, catering, meeting facilities and hotel reservations are all part of the service. This department was able to handle 45 private flights for the TEFAF this year.
We have covered the figures for Liège airport’s activities in earlier issues (Issue 175) this year, there was, however, a press conference for the Dutch speaking press, at the airport hotel recently, where Jetair Fly put emphasis on its new low-cost twice-weekly flights to Tel Aviv in Israel, for EUR 99.99 per single journey. Jetair Fly is hoping to attract Belgian, Dutch and German customers with this offer, which was set to start on Easter Sunday, March 23.
