CORENDON TO LIEGE

[LOG, Lijnden, March 20]
A Court in The Hague decided that the Ecotax on flights is to be introduced from July 1. Corendon, an air-vacation company with BARIN, the Schiphol group Maastricht Aachen airport, and the ANVR, took action in court two weeks previously, to prevent the imposition of this tax by the Dutch Government. The decision means that from July 1, there will be a tax of EUR 11.25 on all destinations, within the EU; or, EUR 45 within a radius of 2500 km and beyond. As a result, Corendon has decided to move its two flights per week, from July 1 to Antalya, to Liège instead of Maastricht. Free buses will be organized between the Netherlands and Brussels, for passengers who fly from Brussels. Corendon flies seven times a week from Brussels to Antalya. They are also considering flying from Weeze in Germany, which is 10 km from Nijmegen.
