EUROSTAR AGREEMENT FOR SNCB

SNCB railways has signed an agreement with Eurostar, which runs the high speed trains that link Belgium, France and the UK. SNCB has a 5% share in Eurostar. The other shareholders are the British company LCR with 40% and the venture company SNCF with 55%. The SNCB has already threatened to scrap the consortium because Belgium Railways has lost more than EUR 50m over the last two years. The new agreement would be more favorable for SNCB which in the future could only lose a maximum of EUR 15m annually on the Eurostar.
