EURON
[EDU: Maastricht, July 22] With EU support (FP5 2001, FP6 2006), EURON has now trained 61 Marie Curie Fellows from 12 different countries and 180 PhD students are working at the School of Neuroscience. EURON has two key areas of research: basic neuroscience, which is concerned with neurodegeneration and plasticity, and cognitive and clinical neurosciences. The there are the mechanisms of cognitive development and ageing and gene/environment interaction in relation to brain dysfunction. The subcommittee based its accreditation on a visit to the School of Mental Health and Neuroscience (MHenS) in November 2009. The school scored four on a five-point scale. Check the website.
The European Graduate School of Neuroscience (EURON) has been reaccredited by the Dutch Royal Academy of Arts & Sciences (KNAW) as a research school for a period of six years from 2010 to 2016. EURON was created by a university network of ten full partners and four associated European universities bound together by a program of collaboration in neuroscience research. EURON also offers PhD students and other scientists the opportunity for further research.
