RALF WOELK: UNIONS’ CANDIDATE

The Board of the German unions, North-Rhine Westphalia, Southwest, voted unanimously for Ralk Woelk as the candidate for the Trades’ Unions chairman of the region. The region comprises Aachen and the districts of Heinsberg, Düren and Euskirchen. Ralk Woelk is 44, was born in Düsseldorf and has lived in Aachen for six years. Fifteen years ago he started working for the unions in Cologne, and later moved to Düsseldorf. Three years ago he took over the public services department. The final decision on his position will be taken on November 18 at the regional meeting of the unions in Alsdorf when it will be determined whether he is to replace the recently deceased Heinz Kaulen.
