QUALITY LABEL FOR LIEGE U

The University of Liège has been awarded with a special European quality label in recognition of its efforts to make it easier for students to study abroad. The ECTS labels is given to universities which have shown excellence in applying the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS), a European instrument that make teaching and learning more transparent and facilitate the recognition of studies and qualifications. The ECTS label outlines the quality of information regarding course programs as well as practical information and services provided to foreign mobile students. It guarantees as well the proper use of ECTS key documents (course catalogue available in English, learning agreement and transcript of records).
This success is the result of a tremendous teamwork involving the Faculties, the Professors and the Central Administration.

The University of Liege is one of the 23 European universities that have been distinguished by receiving the ECTS Label for 2009.

Explaining the significance of the labels Commissioner Figel said: “Today’s Label holders are outstanding examples of institutions which are serious about being international players in European academic mobility and today’s rapidly changing higher education sector.”

The ECTS and DS labels are awarded as honorary distinctions from 2009 to 2013 and comply with the Bologna process.

New programs include training for bioengineers, the architecture of the countryside and biostatistics, a business masters, a masters in international development and cooperation, specialization in information science in the second cycle of the Math program, translation from Spanish and modern languages, naval construction and a masters in psychoanalytic theory. There are also certificates in medicine and languages including TOEFL.
