CHEMELOT CAMPUS CONSORTIUM

The Province of Limburg, the University of Maastricht, the Maastricht University Hospital and DSM are making a start on the accelerated development of the Chemelot Campus in Sittard-Geleen and the Maastricht Health Campus. They have announced that they are going to invest EUR 180m in research facilities and capital for business and an educational program and property.

The Province of Limburg is going to provide EUR 55m and the proposals have gone to the province for approval. The development of the campuses is part of the cabinet policy for the South East Netherlands, turning it into Brainport 2020, one of the driving engines of the Netherlands and now good for 55% of the patents, 45% of private research development, and 35% of Dutch exports. The Chemelot Campus is one of the six campuses of national importance.
