CHANCELLOR VISITS TRIANEL

[BIZ: Lünen, August 26]
The German Chancellor, Dr Angela Merkel, was at the site for the new Trianel power station in Lünen. With an investment of EUR 1.4bn this is the largest communal business project and single investment in Germany. Fossil fuels like gas and coal will continue to play a role in Germany’s energy mix for years, and Trianel got the go-ahead for the plant in 2008. It’s the first plant entirely financed by the municipalities. A hard coal fired power station with 31 municipalities cooperating to produce 700MW plant that would be on the network in 2012.

Aachen’s Trianel GmbH company is one of the leading city networks in Germany with 47 members and more than five million customers.
