AACHEN HAPPY ABOUT TOURISM

Looking at the reports in Aachen’s local newspaper, the Aachener Zeitung, the reader can see the tourist figures are up in the city of Aachen. With the greatest of pleasure, the Aachen tourist service has produced the tourist statistics for H1 2010, and in the first six months of 2010 Aachen had 6.4% more people and 5.9% overnight stays. Finally, the hotel and hospitality industry, as reflected in these figures, has done better. In H1 2010 7.8% more people visited, with 10.1% more overnight stays. It was particularly good to see the number of foreign guests had risen more than proportionately.

The results for the city of Aachen are better than the city region and the tourist region of the Eifel and better than the national average. Together with the other major cities in North-Rhine Westphalia, Aachen was able to offset the decline in 2009 and get back at the record level that it had in 2008.
