INTERNATIONAL ED
[BIZ/EDU: Aachen, July 20] The chamber not only makes it possible for students, but also for those who have yet to receive training and, for young specialists, to gain foreign experience. Angelika Ivens, who has 20 years of experience in this project and is responsible for countrywide advice, is the key person at the Aachen chamber. The chamber’s international education staff advises the chambers, schools, businesses, young people and young specialists. Options can be general questions on stays abroad or details about international educational opportunities or actual mobility projects. For example, there are options in France allowing candidates to gain a French-German qualification within two years, and there is a three-week intensive seminar in London called ‘Doing Business in the English-speaking World’. It is also possible to follow degree programs.
The Aachen chamber is concerned with education, not merely with markets but the education has long been globalized and questions about foreign cultures and languages, different ways of life, pleasure, interest in a particular branch and developing special knowledge are all things that can be facilitated by foreign experience. The chamber of commerce is specializing in mobility within education.
