MASTERS TO UNIVERSITY
[BIZ: Brussels, July 19] The Flemish government has decided on this, including ministers Pascal Smet of Education and Ingrid Lieten of Science. Exceptions are in the navigational sciences and training in music, acting, audio/visual and visual arts.
The Belgian Minister of Education Pascal Smet has decided that courses that lead to a Masters degree will in future, from 2013 to 2014 on, be given at the universities instead of the colleges known in Belgium as ‘hogescholen’. These are courses that are fairly extensive, including translation and interpreting. The extensive courses in architecture, healthcare (physiotherapy), industrial sciences and technology, biotechnology, product development, and business science will be brought into the university structure.
