SOLAR GENK
[BIZ: Genk, July 16] Currently there is a 12-megawatt peak in the tendering phase, which means a saving of 7,200 tons of CO2. This is what 800 families would use in a year. The project is an important contribution to the achievement of a carbon-neutral Limburg. POM Limburg, the development company, wants to expand the project to cover other business parks.
Fifty companies in Genk have recently applied for photovoltaic panels in the context of a collective project from the City of Genk. This means a total of 100,000m2 of solar panels. This is part of Genk’s renewable energy project, which is a cooperative project with POM Limburg –the Provincial Development Company, the Industrial Association, Genk, LRM (the development company) and the University of Hasselt. The technical supplier will be Linea Trovata SunTec.
