BUYING BACK THE RUNWAY

There is a move ahead for the Province of Limburg to buy back the airport facilities at Maastricht Aachen Airport. This means the runway and the airport buildings. The airport was purchased by Omniport in 2004 when then took 99.86% of the airport and a Dutch company Dura Vermeer that took 0.14%. It is felt that if the province purchases the airport infrastructure that it will be easier for the airport to invest in these facilities. This is currently not on the cards for the owners of what has been largely a major business park and business is not going so well.
