LIOF, the Limburg development company, reports that the Korean logistics service provider Unico Logistics has opened a branch in Venlo. The company is going to be the third logistical services provider in addition to the ECT Terminal at Venlo Trade Port. Unico focuses on logistics in, from and to Eastern Europe, with specific reference to Russia. The company has its own weekly freight trains from Korea and China via Mongolia and Kazakhstan to Russia, and will soon be going further to Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and further points west. The company also maintains lines and connections with countries such as the Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and from Kirghizia to Mongolia, China and Korea.

Unico also reaches the United States via air and water. It specializes in high quality consumer goods; break bulk, heavy vehicles, car transportation, etc. The Venlo branch, with the branches in Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland, a one-stop shopping concept with advice, customs formalities, transport and distribution for clients in Russia, GOS countries, China and Korea. This means that the company is offering a multi-modal transport with the emphasis on containers by rail.

Plans also include weekly scheduled services from Germany and the Netherlands to Moscow and further. Unico is starting its marketing activities in Western Europe and will have a European sales team and CRM system. There are also activities ongoing for clients in Northern West Africa and South America on the cards.

In Venlo, Unico will employ six and the company is looking for staff.
