Germany’s best cookbook doesn’t come from Berlin, Munich or Frankfurt but from Heinsberg. ‘Good Meat’, written by brothers Stephan and Wolfgang Otto of Otto Gourmet and illustrated by Thomas Ruhl, one of the world’s best food photographers, has won this year the Gourmand World Cookbook Award. Over 26,000 books on food and wine appear each year worldwide on the market and in the last year the 6,000 books from 102 countries in 40 languages entered the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards, which will be held in 2010 in Paris.
