LABOR MARKET

[BIZ/GOV: Maastricht, December 20]
In the new future the Limburg labor market will see major changes. New sectors will become important, educational levels will be vital and more people will have to be involved in the work process. This is the result of a RAIL report, an overview of the labor market development between now and 2014. It contains information on the mid-term and long-term periods that go beyond the period of economic ups and downs and the credit crises. People will leave the labor market in the period 2009-2014 but the jobs will not be refilled, and yet there will be through 2014 a requirement for 12,600 people per year. And with expansion in the coming five years, 106,900 jobs have to be filled. In this period 105,9000 short-term unemployed and young people are available for the market but the problems are recognizable.

The analysis of the issue is to be found at the RAIL site.
