PARKSTAD BIZ SITES UPGRADE
[BIZ: Kerkrade, November 9] A great part of the Strijthagen business park has also been upgraded and its image is much improved, as is the parking capacity which has been increased for both passenger cars and trucks. Areas which were unsafe have been made safe. One aspect of this project is that businesses have contributed space to improve the business park. This general move for business parks in the region is to continue. The improvement of the Lindelaufer park in Voerendaal has also been largely completed as far as the infrastructure is concerned, and in the coming weeks there will be the introduction of green space and a new entrance. All should be complete by January 2010 when there will be a special opening. (Source: Bedrijventerreinmanagement Parkstad Limburg)
At the Spekholzerheide business park in Kerkrade there was a special revitalization party. The business park is now up to date, it’s more accessible and it’s got a better image. Water control has been optimized. The older premises, which were more difficult to sell, have been demolished and the use of space has been intensified. Councilor Peter Thomas, a member of BTM, Deputy Hessels, and Marleen Kannekens of Spekholzerheide have added the street names. The total revitalization represents an investment of EUR 5m. The costs were met by Kerkrade, the Province of Limburg, the Ministry of External Affairs and the European Union.
