A&C Media BV is a product of the merger between the Netherlands weekly group, NWG, owned by the German Rheinisch-Bergische Verlagsgesellschaft and the Trompetter Group, which is in the hands of the Belgian media company Concentra. The merger document was signed on October 14.

The new combine produces 2.6 million free weekly papers in 60 different editions and employs 250. A&C stands for Advertising and Content, and is headed by Dre Peters and Andreas Hennig. Both NWG and MMTH produce weekly papers with established brands and have considerable expertise. NWG includes Zondagsnieuws and various midweekly papers including De Ster, De Maaspost, the E3 Journaal, Land von Weert, and De Zuid Limburger.
