AACHEN INNOVATION PRIZE 2009

The Innovation Prize committee has nominated the following candidates for the Aachen Innovation Prize.

In the Start-up or Foundation category there is four 4JET Sales+Service GmbH which develops laser systems for cleaning, de-coating, activation and marking of technical services, while supplying a range of standard machines as well as customized solutions. It also has an integrated solution for edge deletion and contacting of thin film solar panels. Airfit GmbH & Co KG from Nettersheim which produces the only wastewater interior reducing piece made of plastic that does not require a coupling sleeve. Schroder Motorentechnik GmbH is the manufacturer of innovative motor concepts and develops sustainable new technologies for an environmental cleaner and resource optimizing emission from combustion engines, the eco drive assistant (EDA) for refuse collection vehicles. Their customers are different large European waste companies using the EDA in their refuse vehicles. The EDA is interesting for this market because of the many stops and starts that refuse vehicles make on their rounds.

In the category of Growth, there is Aixigo AG in Aachen, which focuses on portfolio optimization. EUKALIN Spezial-Klebstoff Fabrik GmbH (Eshweiler) produces special adhesives used in almost all areas of the paper converting industry as well as for the manufacture of flexible patching materials. QUIP AG (Baesweiler) provides service in the form of staff, production and technology, complete solutions, technical employment, work and contract service, administration outsourcing, and onsite management.

In the category of specialized trades, Optik und Akustik Kaulard from Simmerath has a training system in hearing for people suffering from ear defects with a neurophysiological background. Ssk Dentaltechnik GmbH from Gellenkirchen, which introduces rapid prototyping in the area of crowns, bridges and dental prosthesis, temporary care and using composites. Team Steffen AG from Alsdorf provides skilled assistance in a range of activities and also automotive certification, the TÜF.
