THE PARKSTAD REGION

Recently an overview of Parkstad statistics was given indicating that the region has a population of 240,000 with 90,000 employed. It also has 9,000 employers and 100,000 housing units. There are seven major attractions of national and international status and it also has the largest pension fund (APG) in the world and the best hospital (ATRIUM) in The Netherlands, and high-quality education, which also includes the Dutch Open University, an institute of distance learning. It has the largest theatre and the biggest pop setting in the South; and, with the Schunck museum, it also heads the field, according to the compilers of these interesting statistics.
