OXXIO FOR ELECTRABEL

The Belgian power company Electrabel has been referred to as one of the most important candidates for the takeover of the Dutch energy company, Oxxio. The British energy concern Centrica has put Oxxio up for sale. Centrica wants to get out of the continent of Europe because it can’t play a leading role anymore. It also earlier sold 51% of its share in the Belgian group SPE-Luminus to Electricité de France. Centrica also wants to sell its Spanish activities and withdraw to the UK and North America. The German group E.ON has also been mentioned as a candidate for Oxxio, and reference is made to the fact that both Electrabel and E.ON have a lot of production capacity in the Netherlands, but they don’t have a customer network.
