TRIANEL BENELUX HQ
[BIZ: Aachen/Maastricht, August 2] “We’re repositioning ourselves here in Maastricht so that in future we can offer comprehensive electricity- and gas-based services not just to power generators but also to small- and large-scale end customers,” explains Björn Fiedeldij. According to Michael Fraats, with the restructuring the course is now set for growth: “Although we already look after the generation and supply of 3.7 TWh of electricity in the Netherlands, we want to significantly increase our operating results.” During the next few years, the Maastricht company is targeting double-digit annual growth in the Benelux market. Trianel Energie BV is a wholly owned subsidiary of Trianel GmbH, which with 80 shareholders and partners comprises Europe’s largest network of public service utilities. The company, headquartered in Aachen, not only trades in electricity and gas but also owns its own power stations. In 2008, Trianel GmbH’s turnover exceeded EUR 2.6bn
Trianel, the Meuse-Rhine-based energy-trading group, has moved its portfolio management and wholesale activities in the Dutch market, formerly based at Trianel’s HQ in Aachen, to Maastricht Airport. The establishment of Trianel Energie BV, with Björn Fiedeldij and Michael Fraats as directors, will enable the group to bundle its activities; and, all customer service in the Netherlands and Belgium will now come from Maastricht. What was once just a branch office in Maastricht is now the Benelux headquarters for the Trianel Group.
