The Euroregional power company, Trianel, was founded on June 8, 1999 by the Aachen city power company known as ASEAG and the Maastricht power company with a clear task of operating in the liberalized German energy market. Now Trianel has 44 partners from Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and nine subsidiary companies and stockholdings. Starting at zero, today Trianel employs over 160 and in 2007 had revenues of EUR 2.3bn. Profits were EUR 5.6m.
