SOLAR ACADEMY AT AVANTIS

After a short trial period at the Dutch Energy Research Center in Petten, the Solar Academy has moved to the cross-border science and business park, Avantis, in Heerlen. From May, the academy will be providing its courses from this location. It provides training for managers, engineers, and operators and is a critical enabler for the photovoltaic industry.

This sector has shown consistent growth of 40% annually for the past nine years. However, as new production capacity comes on line and is planned, a major bottleneck has made its appearance — this is the lack of a trained staff to manage and operate the facilities. The Solar Academy has dedicated itself to providing a solution to this problem. It will be offering an introduction to thin film, a two-day course on this rapidly developing technology on May 11 through 12 and May 27 through 28.
