SIEMENS POWER IN TESSENDERLO
[BIZ: Tessenderlo, April 17] Siemens will build the power plant as a turnkey project and supply the main components comprising a gas turbine, steam turbine and generator, the entire mechanical equipment, and the electrical and I&C systems. From mid-2011 onwards, the power plant will supply one-third of the power needed for the energy-intensive production processes at the neighboring chemicals plant, with the other two-thirds being fed into the grid. Because of their low carbon dioxide emissions, combined cycle power plants are currently the most eco-friendly, fossil-fuelled generating stations. The new plant will have an output of 57%, making it one of Europe’s most efficient plants. The Siemens Energy Division is a global leading supplier of products, services and solutions for the generation, transmission and distribution of power and for the extraction, conversion and transport of oil and gas. In the fiscal year 2008 (ending on September 30) Siemens Energy turned over EUR 22.6bn worldwide with a staff of ca. 83,500.
The Energy Division of German company Siemens is to construct a new combined cycle power plant in the Flemish town of Tessenderlo. The total order, including a long-term maintenance contract for the gas turbine, is worth around EUR 320m.
