EUR 15M FOR EUPEN CABLE

[BIZ: Eupen, April 17]
Eupen Cable closed the business year for 2008 with profits of EUR 15.3m. The operating result (EBIT) was EUR 11m. This profit means that losses from 2001 through 2003 can be wiped off the slate. After seven years without a dividend, it is possible that dividends will now be issued at EUR 5 per share. The reason for this development is the business climate in Q4 2008. Sales of the stake in Optic Cable, with its profit of EUR 5.8m, clearly improved the result.

In Q1 2009 the state of the economy did lead to short time. However, the management at Cable does not want to make forecasts for 2009 on the basis of the current state of the economy.
