TSCC CHOOSES AVANTIS

The Solar Cell Company, an Eindhoven start up, is planning to set up a new plant on the Avantis cross-border science and business park. On completing financial negotiations the plan is to purchase 5,000m2 at the Avantis site. Production would be scheduled to start in 2010 with 70 staff. Three years later, TSCC would expect to employ 600. There was an interest in other sites, but the choice of Avantis as a location was strengthened by the presence of the Silicon Production Value Chain therer, with the production of systems, and the presence of trained staff already in South Limburg.

The existence of Solland Solar Energy BV at Avantis, the Solar Academy, and the plans for a silicon factory at Chemelot played an important role in this decision.
