EAST BELGIUM PARK

[BIZ: Lontzen-Welkenraedt, March 30]
Work has started on the East Belgium Park, at 331 hectares, the second largest business park in the Province de Liège, after Hauts-Sarts (450 ha). It takes in parts of the municipalities of Baelen, Eupen, Lontzen and Welkenraedt and, with an added 140 ha, can generate 2,000 jobs. The site work represents an investment of EUR 538.000 over a 3-month period. Spi+, the Liège development company, is going to give a go-ahead for the infrastructural development, mainly in Lontzen, Baelen and Welkenraedt, representing an EUR 8m investment in the Autumn and sites will be ready for business development in 2011. They will also benefit from a new highway exit Baelen-Welkenraedt in June and there will be a focus on durability, good drainage and efficient traffic flows.
