This participation shows that even in these challenging times there are opportunities to build new and high-value business activities.” Stichting De Weijerhorst (ex-AZL) is based in Maastricht and has a dual charter: to preserve and promote competitive industrial and trading activities in The Netherlands including the concurrent employment which stems from these activities, and to facilitate and promote scientific research in the medical field. Limburg Ventures, a cooperation of LIOF en DSM based in Maastricht, is a specialized venture capital fund that participates in promising starting companies utilizing advanced chemical technology and with activities in the field of life sciences and materials. The fund focuses on companies that are willing to locate themselves in the province Limburg, and especially on the Chemelot Campus.
Stichting de Weijerhorst has acquired a minority stake in Kriya Materials B.V. in Geleen. Kriya Materials started its activities two years ago and is based at the Chemelot Campus in Geleen. The company develops and produces high-end coating dispersions for applications in electronic and optical film market segments. Kriya Materials is currently active in Europe, US and Asia. Its product portfolio comprises coatings with antistatic functionality, solar heat absorbing coatings, optical coatings and transparent scratch resistant coatings for the sheet and foil industry.
