TOP CHEESE FROM MEUSE-RHINE

At the end of January, the world’s biggest gastronomic fair was held in Lyons. This is the SIRHA, the Salon International de la Restauration, l’Hôtellerie et de l’Alimentation, with 1,100 accredited journalists in attendance. This fair includes competitions such as the Bocuse d’Or, the championship for chefs - with chefs from all over the world. In the competition for the best varieties of cheese, the Caseus Award, the prize for the best presentation of an original cheese went to the Achel blue, the blue Grevenbroecker, from cheese makers Peter Verbruggen and Luc Callebaut at Catherinadal (http://www.catharinadal.be/) in Hamont-Achel in the northern reaches of Meuse-Rhine.
