FORD GENK GETS EUR 60M

[BIZ: Genk, February 24]
Ford is going to invest EUR 51m in its plant in Genk (Belgium) and the Flemish government is putting EUR 7.2m, this was announced by Kris Peeters, the Flemish prime minister, on VRT Radio after a meeting between the Flemish government and Lewis Booth, the Chief Financial Officer of Ford in Detroit. According to Mr Peeters, the investment from Ford will, in the first place, be the upgrading of models that are already produced there. That is EUR 51m from Ford, and then there will be EUR 7.2m in subsidies via Mr Peeters’ colleague, Minister Patricia Ceysens. There is also strategic investment support, which is 10% of the investment that Ford makes, which was EUR 1m but now this will be doubled to EUR 2m.
