NRW AUTOMOTIVE CLUSTER

[BIZ/SCI-TECH: Aachen, February 17]
Eight hundred automotive suppliers in North-Rhine Westphalia are going to look at new prospects in the business for the next three years by developing a national network of science and business. This activity, supported by the NRW Ministry of Economic Affairs will promote ongoing cooperation between automotive manufacturers and suppliers. The object is to support innovation and, in the long term, to make the sector stronger in North-Rhine Westphalia.

Cluster management focuses on cooperation between agiplan GmbH, Mühlheim, and the Automotive Research Association mbH in Aachen as an equal partner. Cluster manager, Lothar Schneider, will be supported by parties from both sides. The highly specialized automotive and research competence and resources in Aachen were decisive in the grant of the contract.

There will be three principal themes: efficient drive ideas, safety and comfort, and sustainable development. Arndt Freiladenhoven and his colleagues understand the needs of companies and how to develop networking activities as was demonstrated at the 9th International CAR Symposium in Bochum.
