SABIC IN GENK
[BIZ: Genk, February 16] Actually construction, in hands of the Genk company Zeppelin, is already far advanced. The event was witnessed by the European board of managers, Flemish Economics Minister Patricia Ceysens and Jef Gabriels, Mayor of Genk. The new company will produce synthetics for the automotive industry. From January 1st 2010 onwards, the factory will annually produce more than 130,000 tones of plastic products. It intends to provide work for 75 people. In addition, the logistics company Transport Gheys aims to employ 25 people in the logistics department of Sabic. According to Moased Al-Ohali, European chairman of Sabic, there’s a bright future for the use of plastics in the automotive industry: “Plastics can be a light and eco-friendly alternative to steel”.
The Saudi Comany Sabic has laid the foundation stone for a new plant in Genk. Sabic or Saudi Basic Industries Corporation, is a world-leading manufacturer of chemicals, fertilizers, metals and plastics.
