TELEVESDRE AT 20

[BIZ/LEI: Verviers, February 16]
On Friday, February 13 the Verviers television station Télévesdre broadcast from the casino at Spa to mark its 20th anniversary. Survival has been possible because of help from the Province of Liège and the municipalities in the ‘arrondissement’/district of Verviers, which pay a fee of EUR 1 per head of the population. There is also commercial support. Between 1989 and 2009 the budget of Télévesdre went from EUR 250,000 to EUR 1.2m, reaching break even in 2001, and with a profit of EUR 100,000 a year.

As to the future, the first move is going to be a new home at an old dairy in the heart of Dison. [Télévesdre and the other local TV stations are a good way of getting to know about this area.]
