GALAXIA FOR SPACE BIZ
[BIZ/SCI-TECH, Liège, December 9] This solar-cell project, completed within a few months using Belgian products, makes "Galaxia" a unique facility in Belgium and a benchmark for other industrial set-ups. Its cost was EUR 14m, of which 95% was funded under the ESPACE plan (Energie au Service de la Promotion de l’Activité et de la Création Entreprises – energy for business) of the Minister of Housing, Transport and Land Development. Since November, "Galaxia" has opened its doors to VitroCiset EPB for its "teleport" activities, and for its involvement in the Galileo satellite navigation program; the centre has also welcomed the small-scale businesses of the WSLlux seedbed jointly created by WSL (Wallonia Space Logistics) and Idélux.
At a meeting organized by Idélux, André Antoine, the Minister of Housing, Transport and Land Development opened the "Galaxia" Centre for businesses focused on the integration of space applications, located close beside the Euro Space Center at Transinne-Libin.
