MINEWATER WEST

The Heerlen Minewater project, in which buildings and city districts can be heated and cooled by a geothermal process which pumps water into the old galleries and shafts of the former mines, is now gaining recognition and interest. GroenLinks, the Dutch green party, has asked the city officials in Sittard and Heerlen to see whether there are opportunities in their area to base a project on the Heerlen minewater template.
