DURACAR: MOST PROMISING

[BIZ/SCI-TECH: Heerlen, June 2]
DuraCar, a Netherlands/Avantis based automotive company, presented the company's all-electric delivery van QUICC! at the 17th Cleantech Forum in Brussels. At this event, attendees voted for DuraCar as the most promising investment opportunity, after which the company received the Most Promising Technology award.

DuraCar and QUICC! Econcern, whose mission is to ensure a sustainable energy supply for everyone, is the main investor in DuraCar Holding BV. As part of its mission, Econcern is committed to developing innovative concepts that make the transportation sector (both vehicles and energy carriers) more sustainable. DuraCar has developed a full electric city distribution van named QUICC! By applying an integrated suite of breakthrough automotive technologies, DuraCar has effectively overcome the main stumbling blocks that have caused electric cars to fail to deliver on their promises in the past.

The QUICC! vans have increased mobility ranges, less weight, lower costs and reliable performance. QUICC! is equipped with a Li-Ion Iron Phosphate battery packet giving a top-speed of 120km/h and a range of at least 150km, where an average city distribution vehicle has needs a daily 50km range. Compared to the conventional car manufacturing process the QUICC! is built around a totally different concept. The use of new thermoplastics offers not only unique advantages in terms of strong, lightweight and recyclable components, but also allows a very competitive low cost manufacturing process. These new materials will gradually replace the composite materials used today. Key differentiators compared to the conventional combustion engine vehicles are obvious: an energy consumption cost of only EUR 1 per 100km, zero pollution emissions and it is a silent runner.

QUICC! will be officially launched during the 2008 Paris Mondial De L’Automobile starting October 4. More information:
