NO TO COAL-FIRED

The project of the German energy group E.ON to build an 800MW coal-fired power station in the coal harbor of Beringen is being halted. According to E.ON, they need another 20 hectares, 11 hectares of which belongs to the City of Beringen and the council have decided to vote against this, largely because it will add to the carbon footprint. The company doesn’t see any technological improvement before 2020 which could provide a carbon offset.
