The cider producer Stassen is back in the hands of the Stassen family. Scottish & Newcastle don’t believe it’s part of their core business these days. Stassen is the cider market leader in Belgium and The Netherlands and wants to develop products for a new market.

The Stassen cider company was started in Aubel in 1895 and taken over by Bulmers in 1992, in turn Bulmers were taken over by Scottish & Newcastle in 2003. Stassen employs 75 and produced 25 million liters in 2007 producing revenues of EUR 25m. Eighty percent of production is for export.
