STASSEN CIDER BACK HOME
[BIZ: Aubel, January 23] The Stassen cider company was started in Aubel in 1895 and taken over by Bulmers in 1992, in turn Bulmers were taken over by Scottish & Newcastle in 2003. Stassen employs 75 and produced 25 million liters in 2007 producing revenues of EUR 25m. Eighty percent of production is for export.
The cider producer Stassen is back in the hands of the Stassen family. Scottish & Newcastle don’t believe it’s part of their core business these days. Stassen is the cider market leader in Belgium and The Netherlands and wants to develop products for a new market.
