[BIZ: Düsseldorf, December 22]
From January 8 through 12 in Essen, there will be an international construction fair, Deubau, with the Netherlands as a partner; and, on January 10 the focus will be on The Netherlands. Another issue in the newsletter is the minimum wage in Germany, effective from January 1, 2008. Currently Germany is involved in discussions on remuneration levels in six sectors and decisions, once taken, are binding. From January 1, there will be fixed rates for cleaners, roofers and electricians; all of which are being raised. There is also a written requirement for withholdings of up to 15% for construction workers; and, further, there will be a meeting between the governments of The Netherlands, North-Rhine Westphalia and Lower Saxony, including presentations on the INTERREG IV-A program. The motto will be, ‘Giving Border Regions Some Shape’.

There are also new regulations for the publication of annual accounts in Germany which have been valid since January 1, 2007. The publication of annual accounts has been required for periods subsequent to December 31, 2005.

Another issue dealt with is the establishment of a business in Germany and protection of the employers and employees. Check the newsletter.
