OUTLANDER FOR BORN

Mitsubishi has decided to transfer European production of its 7-seater Outlander, a compact crossover SUV to NedCar, Born, S. Limburg from May 2008. The company currently produces the Outlander at its Nagoya Plant in Japan.

This means that NedCar will require between 400 and 500 new workers to produce the new model. Union leader Henk van Rees announced this decision earlier in December. Next year (from May 2008) NedCar will be producing 20.000 Outlanders. In subsequent years annual production is scheduled for 30.000 vehicles.

1,500 workers are currently producing the Mitsubishi Colt at NedCar. According to van Rees, both the Outlander and the Colt are expected to remain in production through 2012.
