LIOF ACCELERATES

[BIZ: Maastricht, December 20]
Limburg’s Acceleration Agenda planning and implementation office is moving to LIOF, the province’s development company. The team’s focus is on regional economic development for specific innovative, industrial/business clusters. Examples of these can be seen in the Meuse-Rhine Journal’s webcast links in the navigation column. The areas of interest are analogous to those chosen as ‘competitive clusters’ by the Walloon Region and to a lesser extent to those of the Jülich Research Centre.

A development fund of EUR 20m has been established to finance high risk development and innovative projects. The LIOF team will be headed By Henk Hoogervoorst, with a tem of 4, who will also be head of development at LIOF. The official go-ahead for this program comes on January 25, 2008 when the Province’s budget is debated. The Province also retains overall responsibility for the program.
