TNT LETTER MONOPOLY
[BIZ/LOG: Maastricht, December 7]
The postal service company Sannd is considering taking legal measures against the Dutch government because of its delay in liberalizing the postal market. From January 1, 2008, the market for the delivery of ordinary letters should have been liberalized, but now TNT post still has the monopoly of mail up to 50 grams. Addressed material and packages above 50 grams has been liberalized. But the situation is intended to remain as it is and according to the minister responsible, Frank Heemskerk of Economic Affairs, Bart Stamphorst, the president of Sannd, is shocked by this and he is concerned about his own business and has had to adjust his forecasts for the coming year.
