STAR-APIC IN FORESTRY
[BIZ: Liège, November 19] Said Marghadi described the GIS used by the Moroccan Water and Forestry Directorate. Michel Walezak, from the French National Forestry Office (ONF), outlined the Canopée project, which makes geographical information available to all ONF agents. Boris Delfosse and Christine Farcy of the Catholic University of Louvain-la-Neuve, presented the applications that have been developed at the Forestry and Nature Division of the Walloon region. The STAR-APIC team highlighted new technological developments relevant to the management of forests and open spaces. In view of the success of the event, a further meeting has already been planned for next year.
On November 12 STAR-APIC organized a conference dedicated to Geographical Information Systems (GIS) for Forestry Management. STAR-APIC has been active in this field for many years and has been able to bring together many major organizations and specialists at its office in Liège. Some leading customers shared their expertise in forestry management and demonstrated the work that they have accomplished using STAR-APIC’s software.
