EUR 2.5M FOR EXCICO

[BIZ: Hasselt, November 16]
Excico Limburg is to receive a total of EUR 2.5m from four Flemish companies; Capital-E, which is a fund connected to the Louvain Research Lab, Imec, is investing EUR 1m; LRM, the Limburg (B) development company, is investing the same; and the Flemish Innovation Fund (Vinnof) and Allegro are adding the rest. If all goes well, the companies can double this funding. Excico is a spin-off of the Paris research center SOPRA and was set up in April by ex-employees of SOPRA, and specializes in laser-diffusion technology.

In 1983 SOPRA introduced the first Spectroscopic Ellipsometer instrument in the world, and from that date Spectroscopic Ellipsometry (SE) became the reference organization in optical non-destructive metrology for the characterization of thin film. Customers use the reference tools for optics, new materials, semiconductors, flat-panel displays, solar cells, organic materials and many other fields of application where thin film and materials are required.
