FOOD QUALITY PROGRAM
[BIZ/EDU: Eupen, November 10]
Evelyne Mertens writes in the Grenz Echo that in recent years the food standards have been raised and there are various institutions in Meuse-Rhine that are trying to monitor and improve quality in the catering and food sector. A program started in 2006 called ‘Qualité’ which involved cooperation between nine partners in the five partner regions of Meuse-Rhine, and the objectives were several: they were to produce a reference work on hygiene competence, food safety and quality, and the correct way to treat food. In the second phase this reference work should be available to a larger audience in the terms of distance education. In the third phase there was to be an exchange of teachers and a cross-border educational program would complete the project which is to run for three years, ending in 2008. It’s coordinated by the Epicuris conference center in Villers-le-Bouillet, and is supported by an Interreg IIIA program that provides 50% of the funding.
