CENTRICA TARGETS BELGIUM
[BIZ: London, November 5]
The British engineering group Centrica is interested in the Belgian gas pipeline company Distrigas. This has to be sold off as a result of the merger between Suez and Gaz de France. Centrica wants to implement its preferential right to takeover the interests of SPE in Gaz de France. Centrica has 25.5% of SPE shares and can achieve 51%. SPE Luminus is the second largest energy supplier in Belgium. Belgium must, according to Centrica, renew its electric power production facilities and SPE Luminus wants to play a part in this. The plans of the British energy group are to withdraw from France and focus on Benelux.
