Maastricht Airport has taken over the former Mercure Hotel from the Accor group and passed on the running of the hotel to the Westerhout Group. The Westerhout Group will run the hotel under the name of Tulip Inn Maastricht Aachen Airport. At the same time there are plans for the construction of a new hotel at the airport as part of the development of the airport on the A2-side. The Westerhout Group owns a number of catering facilities in the South East Netherlands and Limburg, which include the Golden Tulip Weert, The Grote Hegge in Thorn; it runs the Fortuna stadium in Sittard-Geleen and recently reopened the entirely renovated De Jagershorst in Leende.
