BERND THOMAS

[BIZ: Aachen, October 22]
The official farewell to the long-time director of Aachen’s AGIT, the Aachen development company, took place on October 22. There were 160 invited guests, including Dr. Michael Stückradt of the North-Rhine Westphalian Ministry for Innovation, Research and Development Technology, Prime Minister Karl-Heinz Lambertz of Belgium’s German-speaking community, and Aachen’s mayor Dr. Jürgen Linden, who were fulsome in their praise of Dr Thomas, who has run AGIT for 19 years and been responsible for major developments on the new business and employment front. Mr. Thomas will be succeeded by Dr. Helmut Greif. Dr. Thomas was instrumental in building contacts across borders with partners such as the Limburg Development Company, LIOF, SPI+ from the province of Liège, WFG from the German-speaking community and GOM (now POM) from Belgium Limburg. At the European Level 2, Thomas’ AGIT played an important role and his international approach permeated the policy and activities of AGIT’s and the Aachen region in a decisive way.
